Civil society holds peaceful demo, demands prosecution of election offenders

The civil society is holding a peaceful march and has presented its demand to the IEBC ahead of the October 17 presidential elections.

A group of civil society members today held a peaceful march and presented a raft of demands to the IEBC ahead of the October 17 presidential elections.

The society had with them a drafted petition which they presented to the electoral body at the Anniversary Towers and was received by commissioner Roselyn Akombe who assured them that the petition will be presented to the chairman, Wafula Chebukati.

Among the demands put forward include the restructuring of the body before October 17.

The group also asked the commission to allow for the scrutiny of the servers by all stakeholders not just political parties.

They also asked the commission to act in consultation with all the stakeholders and not on their own, in reference to the just concluded Naivasha retreat.

They continued their march to the office of the DPP where they will demand for the arrest of election offenders.
