Jubilee MP Ngunjiri files petition challenging Maraga’s tenability

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has filed a petition at the Judicial Service Commission challenging Chief Justice David Maraga’s ‘tenability’ terming his ruling that nullified the presidential election ‘a judicial coup’.

In a 14-page petition, Wambugu questions the basis the CJ used to reach the decision that annulled the will of 15 million voters who went to the ballot. He also said the JSC needs to censor the Chief Justice.

“Justice Maraga has allowed the Judiciary to be taken captive by a group of people who are hell-bent in making sure that Uhuru President does not become the fifth president of this country,”said Wambugu outside the Supreme Court.

Ngunjiri accused the CJ’s ruling as a very bad precedence in the country saying he(CJ) relied on a book he authored to make his ruling on the presidential petition “The quality of the election is more Important than the quantity”.
