Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has nominated Hezron Awiti’s running mate to his Cabinet.
Hassan Wamtoa will serve as the county executive committee member for Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, and Cooperatives.
Mr Awiti, a former Nyali legislator lost to Joho during the August 8 general election.
The Vibrant Democratic Party leader emerge far fourth garnering slightly over 4,000 votes against Joho’s over 220,000.
Wamtoa now awaits the County Assembly’s approval to take oath of office.
In the same list, Seth Odongo was nominated to the Devolution and Public Service Administration docket while Fawz Ali was named Trade, Tourism and Investment CeC nominee.
The County Assembly had approved the nominations of seven other CeCs appointed in the first batch and will take oath of office Thursday.
They are Edward Nyale (Lands, Planning and Housing), Twafiq Balala (Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works), and Kevin Munyoki (Youth Gender, Sports, and Cultural Affairs).
Others are Godfrey Nyongesa (Environment, Waste Management, and Energy), Hazel Koitaba (Health), Fatma Awale (Water, Sanitation, and Natural Resources), and Maryann Mbaruk (Finance and Economic Planning).
