When is the Champions League last-16 draw?

With only a handful of fixtures left in the Champions League group stages, let’s look at all the vital details ahead of the last-16 draw.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham have booked their spots in the knockout stage of Europe’s premier competition, and Manchester United joined them on matchday six after a comeback win against CSKA Moscow.

Liverpool could make it five Premier League sides through on Wednesday and are in pole position to finish first in Group E as they prepare to welcome Spartak Moscow.

When is the last-16 draw?

The Champions League last-16 draw will take place in Nyon on Monday, December 11.

How does the draw work?

The draw will consist of two pots – one containing group winners, and the other consisting of runners-up.

There are two stipulations to the draw. No club can be drawn against a team they played in their group, nor against any side from their own association.

The group winners will play the first leg away, which take place on February 13/14 and 20/21, before playing the return leg at home on March 6/7 or 13/14.

Who is in the last 16?

Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris St-Germain, Roma, Besiktas, Manchester City and Tottenham are through as group winners.

Basel, Bayern Munich and Juventus sealed their runners-up spots on Tuesday, while Chelsea also had to settle for second. Real Madrid are guaranteed to finish runners-up.

Who can reach the last 16?

Joining Liverpool in a bid to reach the last 16 on Wednesday are: Leipzig, Napoli, Porto, Roma, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk and Spartak Moscow.
