The 2017 General Election is the most contested in Kenya’s history. There are over 50,000 aspirants vying for the elective posts of president, senator, governor, members of parliament, members of county assembly and woman representatives.

Majority of the aspirants are gunning for the member of county assemblies. Now, after party primaries came to an end and election disputes continue to be handled, it has emerged that there are 18 aspirants vying to be the next president of Kenya.

While President Uhuru Kenyatta (Jubilee Party) and Raila Odinga (National Super Alliance/ODM) are the candidates to watch, below are the other 16 aspirants who are hoping to unseat the incumbent:

  1. Professor Michael Wainaina – PhD – Independent Presidential Candidate
  2. Peter Ondeng – Restore and Build Kenya Party
  3. Abduba Dida – Tunza Coalition
  4. Kennedy Mongare – Federal Party of Kenya.
  5. Ekuru Aukot – Thirdway Alliance Party.
  6. Joe Nyagah – Independent Presidential Candidate
  7. Nazlin Umar – Independent Presidential Candidate
  8. Cyrus Jirongo- UDP PartyDavid Munga, Stephen
  9. David MungaStephen- Independent Presidential Candidate
  10. Stephen Oweke Oganga- Independent Presidential Candidate
  11. Robert Mukwana Juma- Independent Presidential Candidate
  12. Joseph Ngacha- Independent Presidential Candidate
  13. Japheth Kavinga- Independent Presidential Candidate
  14. Nixon Kukubah- Independent Presidential Candidate
  15. Joseph Musyoka- Independent Presidential Candidate
  16. Erastus Nyamera- Independent Presidential Candidate.

The General Election is scheduled to take place on August 8, and just like in foreign elections like in America and France, these and many other aspirants are hoping for unexpected wins.
